Although, the company named Zensar was created in 2001, its
roots can be traced back much earlier. In 1922, a British firm established a
manufacturing unit in Pune and this firm eventually evolved to become the
Indian manufacturing arm of ICL and was named ICIM (International Computers
Indian Manufacture). In 1963, ICIM listed on the Bombay stock exchange. In
1991, ICIM created a subsidiary company named ICIL, with a focus on software.
In 1999, the original hardware division of the parent company was shut down
