About SCI:
SCI was established on 2 October 1961 by the amalgamation of
Eastern Shipping Corporation and Western Shipping Corporation. Two more shipping
companies, Jayanti Shipping Company and Mogul Lines Limited, were merged with
SCI in 1973 and 1986 respectively.
SCI started out with 19 vessels. It gradually metamorphosed
into a conglomerate having 80 ships of 5.9 million tonnes deadweight (DWT) with
interests in different segments of the shipping trade.
SCI was also awarded the prestigious "Navratna"
status by Indian Government in 2008.

Job Details for Trainee Electrical Officers:
- Candidates with B.E/B.TECH/Diploma in Electrical or Electrical & Electronics, and in possession of DG approved ETO course certificate, without sailing experience.
- The age limit for the candidates as 30 yrs on the date of interview. Age relaxation of 3 (Three) years for OBC candidates, and 5 (Five years) for SC &ST Candidates are considered.
- Must be in a possession of valid Indian CDC, Passport, Pan Card, and INDOS No.
- Must have completed all required STCW-2010 courses including STSDSD from DGS approved institutes.
- ETO course certificate should be from Directorate General of Shipping (DGS) approved institute.
Job Details for Electrical Officers:
- Min. six months’ sailing experience as Electrical Officer on merchant navy vessels.
- Retired Indian Navy personnel with B.E. /Diploma awarded by the Indian Navy, and has sailed as chief artificer (power side only ), and is in possession of DG approved ETO course certificate, or, Candidates with B.E/B.TECH/Diploma in Electrical or Electrical and Electronics, and in possession of DG approved ETO course, STCW 2010 courses, STSDSD/SSO course certificate from DGS approved institutes.
- The age limit for the candidates for (b) (i) can be considered a maximum of 45 yrs and (b) (ii) as 30 yrs on the date of interview. Age relaxation of 3 (Three) years for OBC candidates, and 5 (Five years) for SC & ST Candidates are considered.
